What history remembers is but a fragment of what truly was. Before kings carved their names into stone, before monks recorded the passing of ages, and before the nations of men drew their borders upon the earth, Lanka stood at the crossroads of worlds. The island was known among the Devas as the Golden Flower of the Southern Sea—a sacred land watched through the ages by unseen guardians. It was said that while the world slept, the guardian deities of the land kept their eternal watch through the night, and that an unseen Golden Veil surrounded the island on all four sides.Within her mountains slept ancient powers.Beneath her forests wandered forgotten guardians.Across her rivers walked kings, sages, warriors, Yakshas, Nagas, and beings whose names have long faded from the memory of mankind.Yet legends are shadows cast by truth. The tales preserved by men tell only what was seen. The Sinhavansha records what was hidden. It is written that after His sacred visits to Lanka, the Blessed One foresaw the importance of this island in the ages yet to come. Knowing that the light of the Dhamma would endure here through times of darkness, He entrusted Sakra, Lord of the Devas, with a sacred charge:Protect the island.Guard the sacred teachings.Preserve the hidden paths. And when darkness rises, awaken the guardians. Thus began the Covenant of Sakra.Through countless generations, Devas, Yakshas, Nagas, kings, monks, and hidden protectors labored in secret to preserve the balance of the island. Some became legends. Some became feared as demons. Some vanished from history entirely.Yet their stories did not end. Here are written the chronicles of forgotten kingdoms and vanished races. Here are recorded the rise of mighty kings, the fall of ancient empires, the oaths of immortal guardians, the curses of betrayed warriors, and the hidden wars that shaped the destiny of Lanka. Some of these stories are remembered. Most have been forgotten. All contain truth. For Lanka is more than an island. It is a crossroads of realms.A battlefield of ancient powers.A sanctuary protected through the ages. And a destiny not yet fulfilled.May those who read these pages remember:Every legend contains truth. But no legend contains the whole truth.
